![]() Montaña de Oro State Park Campground is about 40 miles south of Hearst Castle Visitor Center but it is an off the beaten path Central California Coastal jewel of a campground and state park with unique historical and natural beauties that should not overlooked during your visit to the California Central Coast. The Montaña de Oro State Park offers a small primitive campground and equestrian camping, miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails. The state park features a variety of terrains and habitats to enjoy and explore; from sand dunes to beautiful marine coastal terraces and rocky beach tide pool areas rising quickly to the top of the 1,347-foot Valencia Peak; you should climb to the top of Valencia Peak and hike the marine terraces but the canyon hikes are my personal favorites. |
