Cerro Alto campground is just off Highway 41 about 7 miles east of Morro Bay at 1,000' above sea level nestled in an oak studded verdant canyon tent campsites sit astride a semiannual creek. Called by some a mountain biker's paradise Cerro Alto Peak (2,624') is the destination of many hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians offering a 360° view encompassing the ocean views of the Central California Coast and Inland Valleys.
The Los Padres National Forest Cerro Alto Campground has 22 campsites many of which are handicapped accessible. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring and most have a pedestal barbecue grill. Several of the sites are walk-in only sites. There are community restrooms and drinking water spigots but there are no showers.
